Visit to Taiping (26-Oct-2011)

Actually I can't say it's a trip to Taiping, because going to 'touch' the fortune tortoise is the only purpose of this trip, and along the way we visited a few places. Of course, it's a kind of "aunty trip" again.

We started our journey at 6am in the morning, so I was still in my dreamland on the bus until we reached our first destination, the charcoal factory. So don't ask me where is it, the only thing I can tell is it's really deep inside a huge palm garden. Which means that, without a guide, it's quite impossible for a stranger to enter alone. Most of the visitors there got their own 'lucky charcoal', for me I just grabbed a small one as a souvenir. :P
Here's a video uploaded by a local traveling agency about this place:
Our next destination, is a temple, also quite deep inside and far away from town. What so special about the temple is they have a "18 level of hell". But we didn't visit there because it doesn't feel 'lucky' to go to he**, although it's just show you some info and art work. I just donated some money and rang the bell 3 times for best fortune.

I found 1 video uploaded by a traveling agency about this place:

We had our lunch at Kuala Gula, a small restaurant and actually at a not so many people are in the place.

After lunch it's another factory visit, the salted duck egg factory in Kuala Gula. Nowadays things are going mechanized, including salted eggs production. We can see 2 big cylinders are in the factory, making salted eggs, but of course still need human to operate.

(I'm not really promoting this agency but this is the best video I could find from youtube about these places)

Are you fascinated with the beautiful scenery in Taiping Lake? Here is our destination, but not the lake itself, it's because of the 'lucky tortoise'. Anyway the beauty of the lake is really fascinating. I would really want to have a second visit here, mainly to enjoy the scene of the lake garden.

We didn't visit to the famous bridge or have a walk in the garden because it was too rush.

OK, here comes the main purpose of us -- the lucky six-legged tortoise. Many people said that by touching or carrying the tortoise can give you a great fortune, of course it's related to money. Many people won lottery after touching the tortoise. Believe it or not?

The last place we went, are shops and of course dinner before going home. We went home quite late, it's almost 12pm when we reached home. I can't say I really enjoyed the trip actually, but still, at least I had a chance to visit some of the places in Malaysia which I have never been to. Despite the annoying and disturbing karaoke on the bus, I still like the journey.

What's this feeling called?

It was in the meeting, when somebody told me some of the 'good news', and right after that, I felt a bit upset -- actually not really a bit, but in fact, very much.

People who really work hard do not get a single appreciation, and those who actually lousy got a reward. What kind of world is this? Are we looking at people's really performance or how they look from the outside? Nowadays, nothing really has a real credibility, not matter national or international awards, people can always find a 'way' to win them. It's just depends on how 'skillful' you are.

But what to do? Can I just say that it's the real life? Nothing really fair and if you really care then you'll be more unhappy. Just take it and swallow everything into your stomach and turn it into a sh**. It's also what everybody else do.

Yet I always believe that there is "natural selection" in this world, only people who capable survives. You can't depend on your luck forever, luck is like money in your bank, if you don't deposit at the end nothing is left. It sounds a bit like self-consolation, but no matter what, live goes on, you need to find a way to survive. For those you really feel unfair of, if you can't change it, just sh** it.

Souvenir from German

My friend visited to German last month and brought us these -- chocolates.

I like to eat chocolates but never really study on them. I don't know the history about chocolates, never recognize the flavour of chocolates and don't know which chocolate from which country is better. All I know is Belgium is famous with their chocolates and there are dark chocolates and milk chocolates, they can also be added with many other different ingredients and flavours... other than that..... anything else I need to know?

Although I'm not really picky about chocolates, there are still certain flavours that I would prefer. I like dark chocolates, but not 'too dark'. Actually I have sensitive teeth, so some local chocolates which are too sweet I can't really take them, that's why I choose dark choc.

Besides Godiva, I don't really know any other famous brand for chocolates. I googled this brand, actually it's famous in Belgium: http://www.dolfin.be/?lang=Fr&page=produits. You can check if you want to know more about it. Of course I don't have it all, just took a few, and actually they are quite nice.

Saying Good Bye to the Apple Hero

What most of the people will be at their 56 years old?
Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, has already become the legend.
I had once thought of owning an iPhone, or iPad, although I don't really think I can afford it. But I believe it's many people's dream too. Because of Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc. he created an "Apple world", which group all the Apple-pals together. I still wish that, maybe one day, I'll decide to buy some i-product, then I'll become part of the 'family' too. However, that time Jobs won't be there anymore.
No matter what, he is a legend, and the bitten apple will always be there in everybody's mind.
RIP, Jobs.
