Shila Amzah: An amazing voice

There are lots of shares in my FB walls everyday, including this. I couldn't remember her name at the beginning, although I actually watched a bit of the "One in a Million" singing competition TV show 4 years ago.

Then, I saw her name as "Shila", familiar. And then she is with her tudung now, then it attracted me. When I clicked into the link and watched the video, I was really impressed.

I can't say I'm blown away as exaggerated as the judges. She doesn't shock the audience with her high pitch or tone, but the quality and purity of her voice. She did it steadily in a stable tone that is the thing that impressed me. Like some of the judges said, she doesn't understand the lyrics but she could still express the feeling of the songs.

Maybe the reaction from the judges were a bit over and too much in the show, but I do agree that, she has connection with the audience, and sing into our hearts. She is not there to show off her skills, but to deliver the message and emotion of the songs. And about the judges, I can recognize those from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan, and they are all famous singers in Asia so I don't doubt of their qualification of being the judges, btw I like some of their songs too.

However, due to the fact of her background, I really worry that she might not be able to go too much further. Exposure and performance like this has somehow against her religion. Anyhow, as a Malaysian, I'm proud for her to win the competition, to let the people in China, even Asian countries to learn that Malaysia has such a wonderful singer who can sing very well even in the language that she doesn't understand.

Great Job, Shila! And I wish to see you more in the future.

The 'illogical' spiderman

The Amazing Spider-man: Official Website

First about the cast, I agree that the main character is more good-looking, look smarter, more charming, better body shape and height. But for the story itself, there are too many illogical scenes in the movie, which some of them too obvious that I really can't just ignore.

You may be curious why Hulk could get back into his pants even though he became twice or even 3 times bigger than his original size when he transformed and after he became normal. And now you may want to question why the "Lizard"-man always with his coat on when he's back to human, but just naked when he's Lizard.

Other questions might be: when spiderman could hide his mobile phone in his tight spiderman suit; How come he could always find his school bag while sometimes I just thought that it's lost somewhere during the fight; How Peter could make his own spiderman suit as it never said that he could sew, and obviously that suit was not can just be made by needles and threads easily, the material also is a problem; After Peter got bitten, by right the spiderweb should be come out from his hand (it's what stated in the previous version also), but how come it seems that it's from the device that he made now? And also the mysterious lab, a place should be in high security, how come can just let a little college guy entered using other people's pass, and easily entered into a secret lab like this? It doesn't look like they have security system at all......

OK, forget about the fact error and the logic part of the movie. From the story itself, the part I like is about Peter's guardian Uncle Ben and his wife. And I feel more sad when I saw Uncle Ben got killed, Peter could have just saved his life if he wasn't that arrogant.

Actually I didn't get what I expected throughout the movie as well. Such as more story about Peter's parent's death, what is actually happened to them. Also how Dr. Connor lost his right arm? What is actually hidden in Peter's father's research? ...........

This new Spiderman, I can say that quite disappointed, other than the main character, action and effect, there's nothing much I would prefer than the previous one.

The Avengers: Gathering of heroes

Marvel's Avengers Official Website

I've seen some comments from my friends that this movie is not really that good. However, after I watched the movie, I really enjoyed it and think that it's really great. See, if you want to watch so many action heroes together in one movie, some of them might be lost in focus, but it's just quite good that everyone have their shares of the scenes. Some might think that Ironman may take the major role, but you see, he's not the first one who appeared, and at the end he also needs to listen to the command from Captain America.

Frankly, I really don't know who is the Black Widow and the archer. For that archer, I even saw he was called "Legolas" in one of the scene, from the subtitle. And from his action, it reminds me of the cute archer in "Lord of the Rings", his name also Legolas. Of course I agree that archers are smart, but it's hard to be a single hero, because their arrows are limited, and the problem is, they can't be reused.

When you think that if all the heroes are working together to save the world, not a single alien could attack the earth. But, that's just the problem: they can't work together. Every hero has their own character, own style and own skill, how are they able to cooperate and work together? So it's what happen to this movie, they had conflict and fought with each other, at the first battle, they were separated and lost.

At the end of the movie, it seems that the Captain America has taken the commander role, but still all of them have used their own power to fight back the aliens. It sounds so "cartoon" and funny but it's how it goes.

Good thing about this movie is, we can still see some funny scenes from it, audiences laughed at certain scenes, and it really helped to make this movie more interesting.

I would rate this movie a 4 star out of 5. I can see that they are going to make the episode 2 of this movie, but their enemy is already an alien this time, so what would be the next? another species of alien? I'll see that.

Remembering Whitney

This is really a shocking news, when I received the SMS at my phone. I knew that she was suffering from drugs and alcohol, but didn't expect her to leave so fast. She used to be a great singer, until she almost failed her performance in her concert in 2010. Anyhow, she is still holding a best selling record which is unbreakable, and the name that cannot be replaced.

R.I.P Whitney!

=================================================================

p/s: this is a song that has inspired me the most from her:

Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

"Greatest Love Of All"

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

[Chorus:]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

[Chorus]

And if, by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

Far East Movement - Rocketeer ft. Ryan Tedder

I noticed about Far East Movement is because of this song.
And then I found that the members are actually Asian descents (Japanese, Korean and Chinese).
Although they were born in America, as asian descents, it's actually not easy to be famous in US.
Then I found that another hit song "Like a G6" is also sung by them.
It's good to see the yellow skins hit the top charts in US, isn't it?

太完美

OK, you can say this can be one of the interim as well.

Movies I watched in 2010

Hmm... I'm not really sure if I could remember all the movies I watched in 2010. Anyhow, there are some of them I have picked to be the best movies I have watched. Most of the reviews can be found in my label: movie.

First of all, is the Inception. My words are just not enough to describe my feelings after watching this movie. What I can say is that, it's the most impressive movie I have watched in 2010. The dream, the fantasy, the imagination, the reality, the fake world...... sometimes you may be lost in your dream too, you'll be confused as you won't be able to differentiate it's a dream until the time you wake up. But how many of you can remember your dream when you are awake? This movie is too 'real' until it touches my heart.

I still remember when Ip Man was first released in 2008, many people who don't know Chinese thought that it might be another superhero called "I.P. Man", then only they know it's actually the transliteration of a guy's name in Cantonese. Anyhow he's also a hero to many Chinese in his time, he's the master of the legendary kungfu star, Bruce Lee. Now the second episode -- Ip Man 2 is telling the story of his life after he moved to Hong Kong. It's the top of the Chinese blockbuster in 2010.

What so special about "Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time" is the main male character was playing in Brokeback Mountain before, although I never really watched that movie. The story itself is not so special, but I always like those movies telling ancient stories.

I didn't write a review about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, not in English, not in this blog. Anyhow this one of my favourite movie in 2010. Although the story itself is not really suitable for children anymore. Like I said, I always like those stories out of reality. Although I don't think this is the best in HP series. (Review in Chinese)

The A-Team. Nothing special. It just remember me of one of the very popular TV series in my childhood time. I still remember the theme music, that's all.

Despicable Me is surprising me as I always be the Disney's fan. For me, I would think that only Disney's animated films are suitable for children. But this one, really amused me. I watched it with my friends, and I just heard they're laughing all along.

Nicolas Cage another non-impressive movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I like the actor, I like his movies like Face Off, Con Air, etc. But recently, his movies are not really impressive to me, I don't know why. Anyhow, this movie...... I can't say it's bad though.

I had dreamt to be a dancer when I was young, but I think my rhythm sensation is not really that good, that's why I wasn't chosen for the school performance in my standard 1 :P. But I really like to see people dancing. So I like Step Up 3D. The most memorable scene is when they were dancing on the water, and also the dance in the last scene.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is the second movie I watched for the series. I still remember how gorgeous it was when I first saw Milla Jovovich in the first episode. I can say... she's still pretty but I can see sign of aging on her lovely face.

Other movies I have watched:
- Toy Story 3
- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
- Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen

The others, I have missed it.

SJ

SJ is for Super Junior. It's the biggest and most famous boy (maybe "man") group in South Korea.

I have heard this name since long ago but never really wanted to follow them, until last 2 weeks I watched a music video shared by my brother for SJ-M's Super Girl. The lyrics itself doesn't really special, but the rhythm and most attractive is the choreography. A very impressive thing of Korean dance is their dancing moves need a lot of coordination. And then the other thing is, easy to learn, like the songs from SJ, Wonder Girls (Nobody) and Girl's Generation (Gee), etc.

Actually they have another song is more famous: Sorry Sorry. This song has been on the top of the charts since it's released in March 2009. Almost the whole Asia, even worldwide has learned this song and the boy group after that. Many people from different countries are copying their dance moves, even the famous Philippines Prisoner are using their songs (link)... but of course not all the moves, only the chorus part.

I won't follow them like what little girls do, but I'll look for their songs, their videos and related news. Then I found out they have one and only Chinese member, Han Geng and he has already left the team since Dec 2009. He's having his own debut this year, but I still hope that these 13 guys will join together one day.......

Fringe 3 is here!!

Here is another season of "Fringe".

I was fascinated by this series when my friend first recommended it to me. The story itself is about mistery, science, fantasy and imagination. Previously, Olivia from the 2 different universe has switched and now the one in the "alternate" world had been somekind of "brain-washed", her memory has been replaced by the memory of "alternate Olivia".

It's only the first episode. The insteresting part is, the Olivia "here" only has her own memory, but also John Scott, and now inputted with "alternate" Olivia's memory. I think she might collapse one day. And I believe Henry the driver will help her to get back her own memory. And the "alternate" Olivia, although she has entered into another universe, but she doesn't have 'her' memory, I'm not sure how she can cover up herself by not exposing her true identify while dealing with Peter and Walter.

Interesting, isn't it? I can't wait to watch the next episode!

Resident Evil: Afterlife

Resident Evil: Afterlife - Official Movie Site

Milla Jovovich is back~~! With the latest Resident Evil movie.

Basically, I like Milla. She is the pretty action lady, like Lara Croft, you will be astonished by her beauty, style and action. Anyhow, unfortunately she cannot fight with the time. She can fight with any undead, but cannot fight with the sign of aging appears on her pretty face. Yet, she still looks gorgeous.

Actually I wonder why Umbrella Corp still got so many "employees" even after so many were dead? And how come they are not fighting with the undead instead of fighting with the human (Alice)? But I think these are not the questions that I should ask, it's just a story from a famous game.

By the way, there is one thought came across my mind when I saw those undead: I think they can dance "Thriller".... hahahaha!

Step Up 3D

Step Up 3D

I like to watch street dance and hip-hop. Actually I had joined the dancing class for a very short while at my standard one. But then the teacher believed that I don't have the talent, then didn't choose me to perform on stage. After that, I never really learned dancing.

Anyhow, I still like to see people dancing. I like the beat, I like the move, I like the music.

For this movie, I think some of the choreography has been more to a kungfu action. I thought dance is supposed to move with the rhythms... but still I like this movie. Although it doesn't make me want to dance together with them.

The greatest dancer I would say in the world is still Michael Jackson. Many people may dance better than him in terms of technical skills, but when MJ dances, he got soul. That's what make him popular, make him look like a star.

"Some people learn to dance. Others are born to."
I totally agree with that.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

I like Nicolas Cage, but recently his movies are not really that good, at least not really attracted the audiences. This movie, talks about magic. By right it's supposed to be very hot topic, and many people will like it. I can't say it's good or bad, but it just seems like something is missing. The story itself is not really new and attractive, the second male character is not really a good-looking guy that will pull in many female audiences, the visual effect..... I can say there are many other movies better than this.

Still, I like Nicolas Cage. I don't hate this movie, but it's definitely not the best.

Inception

Inception Official Website

I don't really know exactly what is the theory, technology and concept what does it mean in this movie, the only thing I can feel after watching this, is that this is quite scary... the scariest part is not about accessing people's dream, is at the end of day, the extractor himself will forget which is dream which is reality. Then it'll be like Mal, Cobb's wife, get herself lost in the dream world and never come back to the reality.

I have dreams almost everyday, but most of them I forgot after I woke up, not even a single scene. Even though it was so clear while I was in it, and I could even remember the touch, the feel, the smell inside my dream. It's like I have been going to another world with a real experience. Sometimes I realized that it was a dream, but most of the time I wasn't.

If you can access to people's dream, who would you wish to access and what would you do? It's full of excitement and imagination, isn't it?

Despicable Me

Despicable Me

Frankly speaking, I usually prefer Disney movies more than the others, as I thought, they might be entertaining but some of them are not really suitable for children.

For this one, I can't deny that it's totally hilarious! From the moment I sat down for the movie, I couldn't stop laughing until the end! There are many scenes will burst the whole theatre burst into laughter. No matter it's Mr. Gru, Dr. Nefario, Gru's mum, Mr. Perkins, Vector, Miss Hattie, the 3 little girls, or even the small small little 'cousins' (the minions).... they are all very funny characters, all these characters could make us laugh.

I like the little minions, the bedtime story, the funny Miss Hattie, and even the shark and the "dog" in Gru's house. After the movie, all I can remember is the non-stop laughters. I can say this is a very great animated movie in this year. The Toy Story? Eh... still touching, but not as funny as this.

This movie, is just funny, crazily funny!

Prince of Persia

Just watched the movie "Prince of Persia" today. I didn't know that it was originally created from a video game. The story itself is not really that impressive, but if you like the ancient middle east culture, you may love this movie. You will find action, romance (although not much), plots...... in this movie.

I don't know how to describe the movie, but overall, it's nice. As long as you don't set too high expectation on the storyline (and actually it's not that bad), you can enjoy the movie very much.
