Is it really so difficult to find a good mandarin speaker who is willing to work in a call center in Malaysia?
After more than 6 months searching, finally we got one new mandarin agent to fill up the vacancy.
Maybe it's hard to believe, we have about 25%-30% Chinese of the total population. But still not easy to find somebody who can speak Mandarin well, even they can speak well, they are not necessary will apply this job, even they will apply a customer service job, they won't apply to this company. That's why we did have a hard time to get somebody who can fit in.
Many Malaysian Chinese now more emphasize on English education, you can see so many Chinese here are not good in Chinese, some don't even recognize a single Chinese character. There are lesser Chinese family will send their children to Chinese secondary school, for most of the parents, six years of Chinese education is more than enough for their children, as long as they can speak and read. Some don't even think it's important at all. Maybe in the future, it's harder to get a good Mandarin speaker in our country.
I don't know how long this guy will stay, maybe this is not his ideal job for his career growth. In the opposite way, we also don't know if this guy can work well with the team, everything is still too early to say. But at least, we don't need to wait any longer.
